What this Presidential Election Poll is

[Jan. 17, 2013: I froze the polls to record the sentiment of the people at the time before the election. Unfortunately, I accidentally caused deletion of results in 2 questions.]

The Republican National Committee paid to send a poll to my house, and maybe to your house, too. The official, all-caps, title is "2012 PRESIDENTIAL PLATFORM SURVEY". In a beautiful world, this poll would be an inquiry into the will of the people. The honorable statesman behind the survey would then champion the causes of the people for freedom, business, and love (release the doves).

I believe I will speak for most of America (at least those who know more than campaign slogans like "Yes we can" and "Party of yes") in comments following each of the questions in the 2012 platform poll. Please, read on. Answer all the poll questions so we can get a feel for the position of our fellow Americans. And, post a comment at the end.

The real purpose of the poll comes out

The truth about this special honor of selection as representation for "your area" becomes clear after the last question. A small box requesting a donation appears. Convenient check boxes are provided for $35, $50, $70, $100, $250, $500, and "other".

The first section asks you to donate to support Romney. The second requests a donation to "beat Obama". This is probably the real purpose of the poll- to find out if people will vote for Romney or against Obama. What do you think?

The last effort is a bit rude. It refers to the poll as a capital-D "Document" and asks you for $15 to "help" pay for processing your survey. Here is the donation block, below.
