How to DOUBLE or TRIPLE Daily Views on Your Articles

A New Tool for HubPages Authors

Hub pages has a new, easy to use tool. I used this tool and my daily views for my most popular hub increased more than seven-fold. The Adjustment Bureau Movie (Explained) hub was receiving from 20 to 55 views per day. Yesterday, I noticed there is a new tool: "Words that appear in searches that are not in your title." I used the tool in the afternoon. By end of day, I had more than 200 views. Today, I see I have had 316 views in the last 24 hours!

While logged into your hub pages account, visit the article you desire to improve.Follow these easy steps:

1. Click "Stats"

2. Click the "keywords" tab. The default, active tab is "Total". It is white while inactive tabs are gray. Immediately right of "Total" is the tab you want- "Keywords". Click it.

3. Review the data. Some individual keywords will stand out. You want to look at the most popular "long tail keywords". These are strings of words forming common questions entered into search engines like Google, Bing, and Dogpile. In the information for the Adjustment Bureau Movie hub, the word "Chairman" appears in 83% of searches that do not overlap my title. However, phrases like "Who was the Chairman in the Adjustment Bureau?" happened hundreds of times, with slight variations.

4. Add a new text block to your hub, and use the long tail search term as the title of this new text block. Include the term again in the text itself. In the Adjustment Bureau hub, a new poll with the above question about the Chairman produced the surprising results mentioned above.

Add Long Tail Search Terms to Your Summary

Also, in the edit mode, change the "summary" section of the hub. This summary appears in the short description of search engines. I changed the wording slightly, and replaced my third sentence. The summary for this hub is short enough that this important long tail search term appears in the Google results.

Follow-up One Week after Optimizing

One of the commentors, molometer, noted that after employing information from the statistics tools, his view count shot up for 48 hours, then plummeted. I experienced the same- very briefly. As malometer said his views then bounced up, and remained higher, so have mine. Prior to using these tools, I had 24-hour view counts sometimes spiking up near 200 total for all my 41 articles. My Adjustment Bureau hub received 20 to 50 daily views, typically. I had a high of 55 once. My view count for that hub one week after optimizing is 201. This is quadruple my previous view count. Because I used the above four steps on several of my other hubs, my total view count after 7 days is 330. I recall, just prior to noticing the built in stat tool suggestions, praying that my view count would hit 200 daily, and stay above that. Now, I have doubled my total view count for all my hubs.

Also, my average revenue experienced an increase to 239% of previous levels, more than double the previous amount.

Follow-up After 3 Weeks

The optimized Hubs continue to bring in view counts beyond what they did previously. The primary hub, The Adjustment Bureau Movie, Explained, receives more than a hundred views every day.

Voted up useful and interesting hub.

I too have been messing about with this tool, for a while now and like most things on the internet; seems to work, then stops again, then works again.

I too saw my traffic shoot up for 48 hours; only to crash to almost zero.

It was very freaky however the good news is that it seems to have settled down and my hit rate is now better than marginally higher.

Thanks for a useful hub.

I found this interesting, but when I tried it, I got as far as KEYWORDS and "No search terms found." What am I doing wrong? Or what am I lacking when it comes to the copy?

Arlene,

Check the section for stats, and then click over to "hub metrics". There need to be some viewers coming through Google or another search engine in order to provide data on searches. If you have a very new hub, the stats may not have caught up to your account just yet.

If you are not getting any Google traffic, use this tool here: https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?__

If that ugly looking address fails, just Google for Google Keyword tool.

The Keyword tool is simple. Enter some terms you will use in your article. The results will show you just how people are searching. For example, when I originally decided to write the Adjustment Bureau hub, I FIRST went to the Google keyword tool and learned that people were searching for "Adjustment Bureau Movie Explained". So, that is what I researched and wrote. That is also how I titled it.

Comparing my totals on the "my account" page, I see I still have about 33% increase in views overall. However, my revenue has more than doubled (229% of previous). Here is why: I am getting more traffic from search engines. We read each others' hubs often. Low-traffic hubs often have visitors from our own community. These people are interested in writing style, layout, and technical information, not so much the topic. So, these readers do not (in my mind) click through.

Organic views from Google, Bing, and Yahoo! do click through on the topic, it seems.

The optimization technique above increases the kind of readers who will click ads.

Thanks for the details about adding a text capsule, or putting those suggested keywords in the summary.

I've looked at that tool before, and thought, "Those words cannot be added to my title--it would make no sense, and/or would confuse matters and/or be very ungrammatical.

Now I can see that those suggested terms can be used elsewhere in the hub, not just the title, it is much more sensible.

Voted up, interesting, useful and shared.

I've used the "words that appear in searches but not in your title" feature and the title tuner. I've even written a new hub to cover things that don't fit that particular hub. But I really haven't done much with using those words in other places in the hub, including the summary, so thank you for that.

Nice hub, I've done this before using the title tuner; but, its been a while. Maybe adding a paragraph of text to suit the needs of the searchers isn't such a bad idea after all :)
